Our response to COVID – 19
In this time of social distancing due to the Novel Coronavirus pandemic, we would like to reassure you that we will do our best to serve the needs of our children as best we can. Our office will stay open for in-person appointments but we are making some modifications to keep everyone as safe as possible.
We are now offering the Pfizer vaccine to our established patients 12 years of age and older. Please call our office at 831-422-9001 to schedule an appointment.
We will open at 8:30 M-F morning, as usual, and appointments can be made throughout the day. If demand on a certain day is low, we may close earlier in the afternoon so please try to call as soon as you know you may want a same day appointment.
Our Saturday schedule will remain a walk-in, first come first serve, as it has always been. We ask that you call the office to see if we can do a tele-health visit or if the child will need to come for an in person visit. Hours start at 8:30 and we will stop taking patients at 10:45.
Corona Virus Specific Precautions
RLPG provides COVID testing in-office, both rapid and PCR send-out. Because resources are limited, you must first be evaluated by a Physician who will determine if you meet the qualifications. Please call our office at 831-422-9001 to schedule an appointment.
If you are looking to get a test outside of our business hours, you can call SVMH, CHOMP or Natividad for instructions about how to get the screening and testing at those sites.
General Precautions for Reducing Risk
We have removed all the toys from the waiting areas as well as the exam rooms and ask that you come prepared with any personal entertainment that your child may need.
In accordance with county mandates, we will require a face covering on all people over the age of two.
We will be taking patients directly back to the rooms with minimal time in the waiting areas. This may mean extended time in the exam rooms but, as always, we will do our best to see each of you in a timely manner.
As always, we are doing a complete wipe down of all surfaces between every patient.
Well Child Check-Ups
We will still be seeing all ages for well checks. Routine vaccines are still very important for the health and safety of your child and developmental screening is important at all ages.
Telehealth or Phone Visits
For certain issues, we may be able to complete a TeleHealth visit, or visit over the phone, instead of in-person. If your appointment sounds like something that would qualify for that kind of service, you will be offered a phone visit time. You may submit any photos to email@example.com to provide your pediatrician with a more comprehensive evaluation.
These visits would be billed to your insurance just as an in-person visit would be; co-pays and/or deductibles still apply. At present, we will bill your insurance and the insurance will let us and you know if you are responsible for any part of that payment.
Our current plan is to make it an “appointment” and at the time of the appointment the office will call you. As with any appointment, it is possible the doctor may be running a little behind so we ask that you give it 15 minutes after your appointment time and if you have not heard from us by that time you should call the office.
To be prepared for this type of visit we ask a few things: We will need the call back number and we will need you to be at that phone at the time of the “appointment”. Your child must be physically present during this call.
